Worked to create new spaces and inject some modern life into this traditional cape. Rather than blend new additions into a traditional cape, we chose instead to celebrate the new against the old. The second floor addition added an additional bedroom and bathroom to the home, and envisioned as a literal interpretation of the new overtaking and building upon the old. The master suite hangs over the raised back yard like a tree house floating above what will be an outdoor covered space off the renovated first floor living area. Designed as a phased project, the second phase would expand the kitchen in the future with another contemporary addition that will again so clearly wrap itself around the original home.
